Christina Marie created this movement based on her experiences as a woman who has learned (and often the hard way) that most of the challenges and choices made when she wasn't having a "Love Affair with Thy Self,” just led to deeper levels of pain. However, similar to the Lotus flower, which grows in muddy water- it is this environment that gives forth the flower’s first and most literal meaning: rising and blooming above the murk; Since February 25, 1995-when her 16 day old son took his final breath, as a young woman Christina experienced her own dark night of the soul. This experience also gave forth her first flower and she began to rise and bloom through the muck. However, unhealed grief remained trapped causing a co-existence of self-love with choices that did not truly reflect a love of thy self. Once those final layers of grief were released, layer by deeper layer...Christina began to think more clearly. This meant looking at the muck. (What she had created, allowed, accepted or endured. All because she wasn't having a love affair with herself.)
When you know better, you do better; and then there is the truth in some areas where you know better and still aren't doing better (or maybe you keep returning to things that aren't healthy for you-) if so...chances are pretty good there is some unhealed grief on lock down, or some hidden trauma or limiting belief that has grown inside of you -that you may not even be aware of.
You can play through those things. You can embrace the fullness of who you are and have fun doing so. Once you have the experience where that first flower blooms, you experience deeper levels of beauty, joy, reverence and love for yourself.
Draw a bath for yourself, this becomes a spiritual experience. The flowers you pick up at the market lifts your spirit, Pedicures become necessary rituals. Cooking becomes a sacred art...Life becomes more rich and vibrant when you have a Love Affair with Yourself.
.
