THE NATURE OF A WOMAN'S SENSUALITY/SEXUALITYPassage from the Co-Creative work between David Gershon & Gail Straub The deepest impulse we possess is our sexuality. It is a powerful and primal force. It can be used not only to bring new life into existence, but to regenerate our present life with passion and creativity. When we do not express our sexuality, our life force stagnates and our vital energies dissipate. The full expression of our sexuality lies not in the mastery of mechanical techniques for inducing pleasure but rather in loving, intimate, sensual, sacred engagement with life. Engagement with life sees love making as a joyous act. Engagement with life draws out our passion and inspires us to make it happen. Engagement with life acknowledges that the divine energy that animates the universe is the same energy that animates us. Willingness to fully share our life force is the most intimate union we can experience. That is true sexuality. We often stifle our sexuality by limiting how we define it. In our culture, sexuality is defined as an act of intercourse, for some, it gets even more narrow and is seen exclusively as the orgasm. Same Keen speaks eloquently to this point: "Our bodies have become erotic deserts, deprived of the multitude of sensory delights. And the genitals are assigned the role of oasis in us for a desiccated life of the senses." Why not expand your love life from the single arena of the bedroom to all of life? Why not allow your sexuality to become your love for life? so you make love not only to your partner, but also to the mountain you climb, the flowers you arrange, the work you perform, and the spiritual quest you undertake? When defined in this fuller way, your sexuality is your passion for living the whole of your life. Soul food, see if it nourishes you, xx Warmly, Christina Marie
